Overturned Vehicle Slows Hwy. 24 Traffic

One westbound lane was closed when a vehicle landed on its roof in the right lane near the Caldecott Tunnel entrance, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Bay City News Service—A vehicle overturned on westbound state Highway 24 just before the Caldecott Tunnel near Orinda, slowing traffic in the early morning hours, the California Highway Patrol said.

The vehicle landed on its roof in the right lane, blocking one lane of westbound traffic, prompting a CHP traffic alert at 4:59 a.m. today, Aug. 16. The alert was lifted before 6 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a passerby advised CHP that he saw two vehicles traveling at speeds up to 100 mph, one of which was involved in the collision.
