Police Arrest Oakland Man for Possession of Stolen, Loaded Gun

Piedmont police arrested an Oakland man on Halloween night on suspicion of possession of stolen property and possession of a loaded firearm, according to a Piedmont Police Department press release.

The gun was identified by police as one stolen during a burglary in Antioch.

The arrest followed a traffic stop at Piedmont Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road by Officers Jeff Spranza and George Tucker, police said.

Maurice McCright, 19, a passenger in the vehicle, was booked into jail on the weapons charges.

The 22-year-old driver of the vehicle was cited for an unrelated narcotics charge, police said.

Anyone with information or questions related to this case may contact Detective George Phifer or Detective Bob Coffey at (510) 420-3010.
