Police Arrest Prowler, Say He is Linked to $50,000 Worth of Pawned Jewelry

Yardley Brown, 61, was arrested on suspicion of burglary March 25.

A man arrested on suspicion of burglary Monday may have pawned more than $50,000 worth of jewelry over the past five months, according to a press release issued yesterday by Piedmont Police Department Chief Rikki Goede.

Yardley Brown, 61, was arrested by PPD Sgt. Catherine Carr and Officer W. Wright as he left the backyard of a home in the 100 block of Ricardo Avenue, Goede said. The two officers were responding to a report of a prowler in the yard, she said.

An investigation by Detectives George Phifer and Bob Coffey found that over a period of five months, Brown had pawned over $50,000 worth of jewelry, possibly taken during burglaries in the area, Goede said.
