Police Ask Public to Help ID Masked Man Who Entered Rockridge CVS

The Oakland Police Department has released surveillance photos of the man who prompted a SWAT team response at the CVS store Friday morning

Bay City News–Oakland police are asking for the public's help in identifying a masked man who entered a CVS pharmacy in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood and demanded to speak to the store manager Friday morning.

The suspect was possibly armed when he entered the CVS at 5100 Broadway around 6:40 a.m., police said. Employees were evacuated and police surrounded the building by 8 a.m. The store was scheduled to open at 7 a.m. Friday morning.

Police believed the suspect was possibly in the building and set up a perimeter and a SWAT team responded.

SWAT members searched the store and found no one inside. Surveillance footage later showed that the man had exited the building's rear doors before police had arrived.

The suspect is described as an African-American man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He had a medium complexion and was wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark pants and carrying a black backpack. A weapon was not seen, police said.
