Police Blotter: Bike Stolen, Several Auto Burglaries

The Piedmont police blotter for March 29 - April 1 includes a stolen bicycle, auto burglaries, cut phone lines, a guy banging on cars, and a number of found items, including three scooters, a purse, a hat, a book and a switchblade.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter below were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Friday, March 29

Auto burglary – A resident of the 100 block of Greenbank Avenue reported that someone got into his locked vehicle the night before by smashing a window.

Saturday, March 30

Doorbell ringer at 5 a.m. – At 11:11 a.m., a woman in the 100 block of La Salle Avenue reported that someone rang her doorbell the past two days around 5 a.m. She was advised to call the next time when it occurs.

Outdoor spigot turned on – At 10:25 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Wildwood Gardens Avenue reported that someone turned on the outdoor water spigot on the property and that it seems to have been running all day.

Sunday, March 31

Banging on cars – At 12:14 a.m., a caller in the first block of Wildwood Avenue reported that a man was walking up the street banging on cars.

Auto burglary – Police received a report at 11:32 a.m. from a couple in the first block of Littlewood Drive that someone stole golf clubs from an unlocked vehicle.

3 scooters found – A citizen flagged down police at 9:38 p.m. reporting three scooters found outside the building at 1331 Grand Ave. The scooters were taken as found property.

Would-be thief? – At 10:44 p.m., a man at York Drive and Cambridge Way reported that a man was trying vehicle doors as he walked up the street and was last seen in an alley between Holly Place and Ricardo Avenue.

Monday, April 1

Stolen bike – At 9:31 a.m., a person in the 200 block of Scenic Avenue reported a stolen bicycle, which was last seen on Thursday.

Suspicious circumstances – At 10:02 a.m., a woman in the 100 block of Ricardo Avenue that her phone lines were cut and that someone tried to open her basement window.

Found property – At 12:46 p.m. a resident in the 700 block of Highland Avenue called to report finding a purse, hat and miscellaneous items.

Auto burglary – At 2:57 p.m., a woman in the 1600 block of Grand Avenue called to report a stolen ram symbol and side mirror from a truck.

Switchblade found – At 4:04 p.m., a woman in the first block of Crest Road reported finding a switchblade in front of the house.

Book found – At 4:59 p.m., a book was reported found near the tennis courts.
