Police Blotter: Burglary Arrests, Armed Robbery on Grand Near Piedmont

Crimes reported in Piedmont last week also included stolen bicycles and several cases of identity theft.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on June 17 through noon, June 21. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, JUNE 17

Sermons found — Someone found DVD discs containing sermons from Piedmont Community Church and turned them in at the Piedmont police station shortly before 11 p.m.

TUESDAY, JUNE 18

Theft from vehicle — Keys and miscellaneous items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Littlewood Drive, the owner reported at 11:37 a.m.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19

Theft — A Piedmont resident reported that his adult son had stolen money and credit cards from him.

Identity theft — Residents of Palm Drive, Wildwood Avenue and San Carlos Avenue all made separate reports of identity theft during the afternoon.

Burglary arrests — Two persons were arrested following a burglary on Scenic Avenue. See "Police Capture 2 Burglary Suspects Based on Neighbor's Tip" for details.

Armed robbery near Piedmont — A 911 caller advised Piedmont police of an armed robbery on Grand Avenue by three black male adults — one of them armed — at 11:52 p.m. The three men ran up Sunnyslope Avenue after the the robbery and drove off in a white Honda, the caller said. The incident was referred to the Oakland Police Department for follow-up.

THURSDAY, JUNE 20

Burglary — A resident of St. James Drive reported shortly after 8 a.m. that someone broke a window in his garage during the night. The caller said he heard the sound of breaking glass about 4 a.m.

Trapped fawn — A baby deer was reported stuck in a fence on Indian Gulch Road about 1 p.m.

FRIDAY, JUNE 21

Stolen bikes — Bicycles were stolen from a garage on Pala Avenue sometime during the night.
