Police Blotter: Girl Escapes from Intruder in Home

Incidents reported to Piedmont police March 28–April 4

MONDAY, MARCH 28

Girl Escapes from Intruder – A girl who had just come home from school escaped out her bathroom window after encountering an intruder in her home on the 100 block of Nova Drive shortly after 2:23 p.m. The intruder, who was wearing a hospital mask and gloves, could not be located.

Police Make Arrest for DUI – A motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence at 2:48 a.m. on the 400 block of Weldon Avenue.

Assault Reported at Church – An assault that had occurred on Friday at Piedmont Community Church was reported at 6:42 p.m. A female victim was slapped on the rear end by a male attendee of a charity auction, police said. The victim did not seek charges against the man.

Man Talking To Himself – At 10:38 a.m., it was reported that a man was talking to himself at Linda and Sunnyside avenues.

Skateboarders Riding in Intersection – Skateboarders were reported riding in the intersection of Blair and Highland avenues at 5:41 p.m.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30

Dead Animals Reported – Three dead animals were reported in less than 90 minutes. A dead cat was reported on the roadway of the 1700 block of Oakland Avenue at 7:04 a.m. At 7:37 a.m., a dead animal was reported at Crest Road and La Salle Avenue. A third dead animal was reported on the 200 block of Crocker Avenue at 8:19 a.m.

Vehicle Leaking Gas – The fire department cleaned a spill and stopped a leak after it was reported that a Lexus with an overflowing tank was leaking gas at Craig and Highland avenues at 1:41 p.m.

THURSDAY, MARCH 31

Identity Used to Purchase TV – At 11:23 a.m., a man from the first block of Selborne Drive reported that a TV had been purchased using his name and Social Security number.

FRIDAY, APRIL 1

Homes Burglarized – At 5:35 p.m., a woman from the 600 block of Moraga Avenue reported that a back door had been kicked in and her home had been burglarized during the day. At 5:40 p.m., a woman from the 100 block of Dale Avenue reported that her home had also been burglarized. When she came home, doors were open and drawers had been pulled out, she told police.

Two Women Attempt to Cash Fraudulent Checks – At 9:50 a.m., it was reported that two women had attempted to cash fraudulent checks at Citibank.

SATURDAY, APRIL 2

Vehicle Sideswiped – The person responsible for sideswiping a vehicle on the 1500 block of Grand Avenue was on the scene when the accident was reported at 6:09 p.m.

Aggressive Solicitor Reported – An aggressive solicitor offering to paint curbs was reported on the 1700 block of Trestle Glen Road at 5:06 p.m. Police were unable to locate the man.

SUNDAY, APRIL 3

Items Taken from Unlocked Vehicles – Change and CDs were taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 1000 block of Oakland Avenue, according to a report made at 8:38 a.m. At 9:44 a.m., a man reported that several items had been taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 300 block of El Cerrito Avenue.

Accident Reported – At 5:35 p.m., a caller reported hitting a parked vehicle at Mesa and Moraga avenues but was unable to locate the owner.

Vehicle Vandalized with Feminine Hygiene Products – At 10:18 p.m., a woman from the first block of King Avenue reported that someone had placed feminine hygiene projects all over her vehicle.

Large Soccer Game Reported – A large soccer game was reported at the Linda Beach Playfield at 12:03 p.m.  

MONDAY, APRIL 4

Vehicle Broken Into – At 3:46 a.m., a caller from the 100 block of Wildwood Avenue reported that a vehicle had been broken into about 10 minutes earlier.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – A stolen vehicle was recovered at Kingston and Monte Vista avenues at 10:55 a.m.

Bike Found – At 9:11 a.m., a resident from the first block of Prospect Road reported finding a bicycle. Police booked the bicycle into property.
