Police Blotter: Home Burglaries, Gunshots

Two women were arrested in connection with a residential burglary, another for outstanding traffic warrants.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log Nov. 12-19. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, NOV. 12

Petty theft — A bag containing an iPhone was stolen when it was left unattended for about 15 mintues during the afternoon at Dracena Park.

TUESDAY, NOV. 13

Burglary — Two women were arrested in connection with the burglary of a home in the first block of Bonita Avenue. See "Police Capture Two Female Burglary Suspects, Recover Stolen Loot."

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 14

Animal control incident — A Ricardo Avenue resident reported that his cat was killed by a neighbor's dog that broke through a fence.

Residential burglary — A resident reported the burglary of a home in the first block of Manor Drive. The break-in occurred several days earlier, on the evening of Nov. 11. The burglar apparently entered the home through an open back window and rummaged through drawers in a bedroom. Police said the loss was still undetermined.

Stolen car recovered — Police determined that a Honda Accord parked for several days in the 900 block of Kigston Avenue had been reported stolen in Oakland.

Stolen GPS — A GPS device was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Portsmouth Road.

Gunshots — A resident of the first block of Highland Avenue reported hearing what sounded like several gunshots coming from Mountain View Cemetery.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15

Warrant arrest — Shavon Roberson, 32, of Patterson was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants from an outside agency after police pulled over his car because it was missing a front license plate. The traffic stop happened at 2 a.m. near the intersection of Linda and Grand avenues. 

FRIDAY, NOV 16 — Someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Lower grand Avenue during the night. Another vehicle parked near the corner of Fairview Avenue and Arbor Drive was also burglarized, with the loss of a stereo. 

SATURDAY, NOV. 17

Falling branch — A tree limb fell onto a vehicle parked on Pala Avenue.

SUNDAY, NOV. 18

Stolen bike — A bicycle was stolen from a garage in the 1100 block of Harvard Road.

Gunshot — A resident of the 800 block of Highland Avenue reported hearing a gunshot and feeling something come through the bedroom window shortly before 7 p.m. Police said the shot came from a BB gun and made a a hole in the window glass.
