Police Blotter: Home Burglary, Arson, Assault, Motorcycle Accident

Crime in Piedmont during Christmas week.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Dec. 23 through noon, Dec. 27. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, DEC. 23
Auto recovery — A stolen vehicle was located in the 700 block of Trestle Glen Road.

Auto burglary 
— A passenger-side window of a Volkswagen parked on Olive Avenue was broken.

TUESDAY, DEC. 24

Arson
— A Somerset Road resident reported that someone set a fence on fire during the night.

Bank fraud 
— A Piedmont resident reported being the victim of fraud involving a bank account, with a loss of at least $1,800. 
Aggravated assault — An afternoon dispute between two adult brothers escalated into a physical attack at a Piedmont home, and one of the siblings was arrested and taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility, according to police reports.
Home burglary — A Mountain Avenue resident reported that his home was burglarized sometime between noon and his arrival home at about 6:30 p.m. Jewelry was taken from the residence.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 25

Auto burglary — Someone broke into a truck parked on Winsor Avenue and stole tools during the night.

THURSDAY, DEC. 26

Auto burglary — A stereo was stolen from a Honda CRV parked on Oakland Avenue. The vehicle break-in occurred during the night.

Non-injury accident — No major injuries or property damage were reported in a solo motorcycle accident that occurred on Moraga Avenue just before midnight.
