Police Blotter: Party Leads to Citations; DUI Arrest Follows Crash

Incidents reported to Piedmont PD July 18 – July 25. Information was supplied by the police department and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, JULY 18

Thief Snags Tools – At 4:07 p.m., it was reported that tools had been taken from an unlocked vehicle on the first block of Abbott Way.

Vehicle Recovered – A vehicle stolen out of Oakland was recovered on the 600 block of Fairmount Avenue at 8:06 p.m. Police contacted the owner.

Traffic Stop Yields Arrest – At 9:35 p.m., police arrested a 28-year-old Pleasant Hill man with three warrants for his arrest involving drugs and a weapons violation. Police stopped the man for a mechanical violation while he was driving on the 200 block of Palm Drive.

BMW Hobbled by Brick – A silver BMW was disabled after reportedly hitting a brick on the 900 block of Moraga Avenue at 7:25 p.m. No humans were injured.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 20

Property Found – At 3:56 p.m., a woman reported finding a key and money on the 100 block of Mesa Avenue. In a separate incident, a resident turned in a cell phone found on Highland and Moraga avenues at 7:03 p.m. The phone was eventually claimed by its owner.

Home Egged – At 5:10 p.m., it was reported that a house was vandalized on the first block of Muir Avenue.

THURSDAY, JULY 21

Two Bikes Stolen – At 11:51 a.m., a woman from the first block of Selborn Drive reported that two bikes had been stolen the previous day.

One Bike Found – A woman reported finding a bike on the 1100 block of Oakland Avenue at 1:19 p.m.

Woman Cutting Bamboo from Yard – At 4:31 p.m., a caller reported that a woman was cutting bamboo from a yard on the first block of Sotelo Avenue. Police responded and released the woman after taking her knife as found property.

FRIDAY, JULY 22

Burglar Steals Video Games, Piggy Bank – At 7:36 p.m., a woman from the first block of Jerome Avenue reported coming home to find that her video game system and son’s piggy bank had been taken.

SATURDAY, JULY 23

DUI Arrest Follows Crash – A 49-year-old Oakland woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing into another motorist on the 200 block of Crocker Avenue at 10:11 p.m., police said. No injuries were reported.

Party Brings Furniture to Park – Residents who brought furniture to Dracena Park were advised of city law banning furniture after the party was reported at 11:58 a.m.

SUNDAY, JULY 24

Police Issue Citation for Loud Parties – At 10:08 p.m., police issued a citation at a home on the 100 block of Estates Drive after a juvenile party with loud voices was reported for a second time in one day. Prior to that, at 1:42 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud juvenile party at the same home. The first time police were called, the music was turned down and the party was taken inside.

Party Moves Inside – At 5:04 p.m., loud bongos were reported on the first block of Wildwood Avenue. The party was taken inside after police responded.

MONDAY, JULY 25

Golf Clubs Stolen – At 8:19 a.m., a man from the 100 block of Monticello Avenue reported that golf clubs had been stolen from his front yard.

Another Loud Party – Parents were home when a loud juvenile party was reported on the first block of Glen Alpine Road at 2:13 a.m. The music was turned down after police responded.
