Police Blotter: Stolen Bikes and Minivan, Bad Concert Tickets, Kids in the Bushes

The weekend Piedmont Police Department log also included a dozen traffic stops, nine false alarms and a barking dog.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Aug. 9 through noon, Aug. 12. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

FRIDAY, AUG. 9

Petty theft — A cell phone was reported stolen from the track area at Piedmont High School. the theft occurred July 30.

Public intoxication arrest — Police arrested a man who appeared to have imbibed too much, leaned his bicycle against a PG&E pole and leaned himself against a phone pole near the corner of Ranleigh Way and Portsmouth Road just before midnight. The man was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland.

SATURDAY, AUG. 10

Petty theft — A Sandringham Road resident reported the theft of a watch from a vehicle. The theft occurred the previous week.

SUNDAY, AUG. 11

Petty theft — Someone rifled through a vehicle owned by a Ramona Avenue resident, taking a purse. The purse and its contents were found scattered on sidewalk in the 100 block of Ronada Avenue just after 7 a.m.

Stolen vehicle — A Dodge Caravan was stolen from Grand Avenue sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 11:25 a.m. Sunday.

Bad tickets — A Piedmont resident reported that concert tickets purchased via Craigslist turned out to be stolen.

Grand theft — Three bicycles worth a total of $8,000 were reported stolen from a garage on Wildwood Gardens.

Suspicious? — A Piedmont resident told police that a woman carrying an infant near St. James Drive and Sandringham Road "wasn't making eye contact with the baby" and might not be the mother. It turned out to be just a mom and her baby out for a stroll, police said.

Not in my yard! — A Piedmont resident arriving home about 7:20 p.m. saw three juveniles leaving their yard near the corner of St. James Drive and Cambrian Avenue and chased them down. The juveniles said they'd been urinating in the bushes. The police department was notified.

Porta-Potty tipped — A police officer was able to move a Porta-Potty that had been pushed into the roadway on Estates Drive about 9:30 p.m.

MONDAY, AUG. 12

Bicycle found — A Wildwood Gardens resident reported finding a small BMX-style bike with a missing seat in a hedge on their property.
