Police Blotter: Stolen Car Recovered, Two Arrested

Officers kept busy with traffic stops and false alarms last week, but the New Year was marked by a lull in serious crime.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Dec. 30 through noon, Jan. 3. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, JAN. 2

Grand theft — Skis and two bicycles were stolen from a garage on Cambridge Way during the night.

Weapons destruction — A local resident turned an Airsoft gun into the police department for destruction.

FRIDAY, JAN. 3

Auto theft arrests — The city's automated license plate reader system alerted police to a stolen vehicle Friday afternoon, and officers located the vehicle quickly, according to Capt. Scott Wyatt. Two people were taken into custody on outstanding warrants and on suspicion of charges related to vehicle theft. The case was still under investigation Friday.
