Police Blotter: Stolen Cars, Deer vs. Fence, Construction Site Burglary

The crime log for July 15-19.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on July 15 through noon, July 19. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.
MONDAY, JULY 15

Trapped deer — PPD personnel freed a deer stuck in a fence on Glen Alpine Road about 7 p.m.
TUESDAY, JULY 16
Arrest — Piedmont police took one person into custody after a traffic stop near the corner of Piedmont and Yosemite avenues in Oakland about 2 a.m. The suspect was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland.
Vehicle theft — A Honda Civic was stolen from Caperton Avenue sometime during the night, the owner reported about 7 a.m.
Traffic hazard — Someone knocked over a PortaPotty on La Salle Avenue during the night.

Noise — A Palm Drive resident reported hearing "loud booms" about 11:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 17
Burglary — a burglary was reported at a residential construction site on Crest road shortly before 11 a.m.
Vandalism — A resident complained that racially offensive graffiti on a bench at the Recreation Center had not been removed, although it was initially reported to the Rec Department a week earlier. City staff said the graffiti was done in chalk and will be washed off.
Another trapped deer — A deer became entangled in a fence on Moraga Avenue about 9:15 p.m. but managed to free itself.
THURSDAY, JULY 18
Stolen vehicle — A black Infiniti was reported stolen from Greenbank Avenue.
Lost dog — A stray dog found on Moraga Avenue about 10 a.m. was taken to the Berkeley Animal Shelter. The dog was described as a medium to large black-and-white male.
