Police Searching Holy Names University Campus for Possible Armed Man

The Oakland Police Department received a report of a person armed with a gun about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Oakland police are looking for a person who may be armed with a gun at Holy Names University, 3500 Mountain Blvd., according to an Oakland Police Department advisory message issued at 11:31 a.m. today.

"Only one uncorroborated report received; no imminent threat to the campus exists," according to the advisory. "officers are searching and attempting to verify the report."

Bay City News Service reported at 12:37 p.m. that students were evacuated from classrooms, and on-campus residents returned to their dormitories after officers responded to the campus' Hester Building, a residence hall staff member said.
