U.S. Marshals Arrest More Than 100 Fugitives in Oakland, Sacramento

The U.S. Marshals Service has announced the arrests of more than 100 wanted violent fugitives and gang members during a two-week operation centered in the Oakland and Sacramento areas.
 
There were 104 total arrests, including nine on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, nine for assault, 14 for burglary and robbery, 10 for weapons offenses and 32 for drug offenses, the marshals service announced Tuesday.
 
There were also three arrests for sexual offenses, two for failure to appear in court, one for fraud and 24 for parole violations. A marshals service spokesman said seven of the suspects arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder were wanted by the Oakland Police Department.
 
The marshals service highlighted the arrests of Alpacino McDaniels, 29, on suspicion of a 2013 murder in West Oakland, Brian Infante, 41, on suspicion of a rape earlier this year in San Francisco, Julian Contreras, 22, on suspicion of an attempted murder earlier this year in Napa, and Douglas Chenelle, 72, on suspicion of sexual battery in Vallejo.
 
Officials said 27 of the suspects arrested are known gang members. Eight firearms, 10 grams of cocaine, two pounds of methamphetamine and a pound of black tar heroin were seized during the operation.
 
The multi-agency operation included efforts from 20 agencies including the Oakland and San Francisco police departments and the Contra Costa County, Santa Clara County and Solano County sheriff's offices.
