Watch for Burglar's SUV, Protect Your Cell Phone
Two alerts today from the Oakland Police Department with relevance for Piedmonters
Oakland police Thursday asked citizens to be on the alert for a white or silver SUV suspected of involvement in multiple burglaries in the Oakland hills (Beat 13) on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The SUV has a partial license plate number of 6FCxxxx.
The alert asks citizens to "Call OPD if you see this vehicle and tell the dispatcher the vehicle is supected in multiple home burglaries occurring on 28Dec11. The investigators are: Officers P. Gall, D. Salcido, and Ofc. J. Mitchell."

The OPD also reported that four young black men, including two carrying handguns, have robbed several people of their cell phones recently.
According to the OPD alert, "Robbery suspects are looking for victims with cell phones. Also, suspects are driving around looking for victims sitting in their cars on their cell phones. This is happening at all hours of the day."

The robberies have occurred in several areas, including Montclair Village.
