City Administrator Geoffrey Grote: A Retrospective

A Piedmont Civic Association article looks at Grote's long career as he plans to retire in early 2014.

Piedmont Civic Association takes a look back at Geoffrey Grote's 25 years as Piedmont's city administrator in an article posted Sunday on the PCA website.

Grote announced last week that he will retire in February after a quarter century as Piedmont's top administrator.

The article notes that 1989, less than a year after he was hired, Grote was identifying some of the city's top concerns as taxes, zoning, safety, planning, libraries, utility undergrounding, trees, playfields and views.

"Most of these issues continue to be of great interest to Piedmonters," the article says.

There's also a 1989 photo of Grote.
