City's Finance Director Announces Retirement

Mark Bichsel announced Tuesday that he will retire in February 2013.

Mark Bichsel, the City of Piedmont's finance and human resources director, announced Tuesday that he will retire effective February, 2013, according to a city press release.

Bichsel, a certified public accountant, worked both in the public and private sectors before being hired by the city in 1992.

“My greatest achievement as director has been to assemble such a qualified and competent finance and human resources staff,” Bichsel said.

“The City of Piedmont has benefitted tremendously from Mark’s service over the past 20 years. We have been extremely lucky to have such a competent and talented individual as finance and human resources director for all these years,” said City Administrator Geoffrey L. Grote. “I wish him the best in his retirement.”

Bichsel will remain with the city until February of 2013 and recruitment for a new finance and human resources director will likely commence in the fall of 2012, according to the press release.
