Council to Decide on Parcel Tax Renewal Vote

The city's muncipal services tax will expire at the end of fiscal year 2012-2013 unless Piedmont voters approve its renewal.

The Piedmont City Council is expected to decide Monday night whether to ask voters to renew the municipal services tax — usually called the parcel tax — for another four years, starting with fiscal year 2013-14.

If they do so, the renewal will come before voters at the Nov. 6, 2012 general election.

The proposal calls for renewing the parcel tax up to its current maximum level, with the council setting the specific amount each year.
