Residents of Oakland's District 1 — which includes the Piedmont Avenue area, Rockridge, Temescal and other North Oakland neighborhoods — are invited to the first annual District One Holiday Party thrown by Oakland City Councilmember Dan Kalb and his staff.

The party is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14, noon to 2 p.m.. at the MLK Cafe, 3860 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland (between Apgar and 39th streets).

Light snacks and eggnog will be provided, according to an announcement from Kalb's office.

The event is free, but those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.
