Piedmont Police Chief's Report: Total Number of Crimes Similar to Last Year, but Robberies Increase

Burglaries and vehicle thefts were also higher during the first nine months of 2013, compared to the same period last year.

Overall, crime in Piedmont increased very slightly during the first nine months of 2013 as compared to the same period last year — but the pattern of crimes committed shows some changes, according to a reported presented to the Piedmont City Council by Police Chief Rikki Goede Monday night.

Robbery, burglary and motor vehicle thefts all increased, while the number of thefts (which include vehicle break-ins) dropped, according to Goede's figures.

Criminal activity increased the most during the months of January, March and June 2013, as compared to the same months in 2012, the report shows.

A map included with the report shows that 2013 crimes were most prevalent along Piedmont's borders and the Grand Avenue corridor.
