Pool Manager Leaves – Replacement Being Recruited

The first pool manager hired by Piedmont since the city took over the community pool in 2011, Nick Cuevas, has left to work for the city of Newark. Piedmont has posted the opening and is recruiting a replacement.

The manager of the Piedmont Community Pool, Nick Cuevas, has left to work in the aquatics division for the city of Newark, and Piedmont is seeking a replacement, said Piedmont Recreation Director Mark Delventhal.

Cuevas had given notice, and his last day was Friday, Delventhal said.

"It's good for Newark, and it's good for him," Delventhal said.

A message from Recreation Supervisor David Weisgerber in the April edition of the pool newsletter, "The Piedmont Splash," says Cuevas "has done an outstanding job and helped us put the PCP on a very sound footing. We are sorry to lose Nick, but wish him only the best in his future endeavors!"

Cuevas, who assumed the position on Jan. 30, 2012, was the first pool manager hired by the city after it took over operation of the pool from the Piedmont Swim Club on July 1, 2011. After the city took it over, the pool manager for the Swim Club continued as manager for a period of time, followed by an interim manager for a short interval before Cuevas was hired as the manager, Delventhal said.

The current interim manager for the pool until a replacement is found is the assistant pool manager, Zane Faraola, Delventhal said.

The job posting for the pool manager opening lists the salary range as $3,536-4,740 per month. The deadline for applications is April 26.
