Traffic Advisory: Road Closure Due to Water Line Repairs

Oakland's Moraga Avenue will be reduced to one lane through June 16, according to EBMUD officials.

Officials with the East Bay Municipal Utility District say that construction and road closures for repairs to the Dingee pipeline replacement will reduce Oakland's Moraga Avenue to one lane for three consecutive nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, July 14, through Wednesday, July 16, at Harbord Drive.

According to EBMUD spokesperson Abby Figueroa, about eight customers will be affected during a small water outage on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

Residents may notice noise and lights during the construction dates.

"The Dingee pipeline is a critical pipeline in the EBMUD distribution system that winds through the Oakland Hills serving about 13,000 customers," Figueroa said. "We have been replacing about 12,000 feet of the pipeline since last October and are scheduled to finish this summer. The original is a steel pipe and the replacement is steel. Most of what we are replacing is 24-inches in diameter. The pipeline is named after William Dingee. He was the founder of the Oakland Water Company which pre-dates EBMUD."
