Six Hearings for Vox Populi on Pool Fees, Policies

Public can have its say as city prepares to take over pool on July 1.

The city has released a schedule of hearings before the hours, fees and policies of the Piedmont Community Pool are established.

The management of the pool on Magnolia Avenue is due to pass from the Piedmont Swim Club to the City of Piedmont July 1.

The public will have a chance to weigh in on fees and hours for lap swimmers, Piedmont High School swim and water polo teams, summer swim lessons, family rates and non-residents.

The Recreation Department will set fees for individual programs. The council will have input into longer-term items such as gate fees and family passes.

The Recreation Commission will hold public hearings at 7:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays in the City Council Chambers: April 20; May 4 and May 18 (if needed).

Municipal pool fees and revenues are also a potential topic at City Council hearings on the tentative 2011-12 budget. These hearings are scheduled for:

  • 9 a.m. Saturday, May 21, in the EOC Conference Room at the Piedmont Police Department;
  • 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the City Council Chambers;
  • 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, at the City Council Chambers.
