Bird Calling Winners to Appear on Letterman Show Tuesday, May 21
Continuing a longstanding tradition, the winners of Piedmont High's 2013 bird calling contest will make an appearance on the David Letterman show May 21.
The winners of the 48th Annual Leonard J. Waxdeck Bird Calling Contest will be featured on the Late Show with David Letterman to air on Tuesday, May 21, the Piedmont Unified School District announced this morning (Monday).
The show begins at 11:35 p.m. on KPIX-TV, Channel 5.
This year’s first place winners were Gabe Bolia, Eli Nash and James Clifford for their interpretation of the Greater Prairie Chicken. Dina Zangwill won second place for her portrayal of the Red-Throated Loon. Sophomores Becca Havian, Jo Ireland and Amy Kelleher took third place with their depiction of a Gyrefalcon.
