Civic Involvement: Piedmont League of Women Voters Panel Discussion

On Thursday September 8th we have invited a panel of current and past school board, city council, and city commission members to share their “Civic Involvement” experiences with us. Hear from community members Michael Bruck, Margaret Fujioka, Nick Levinson, Bob McBain, Sue Kawaichi, and Roy Tolles, as they share their perspectives on what it’s like to serve as a public official or appointed commission member. How much time does the job entail? In their opinion, what qualities and skills help them to be effective community leaders? What’s most challenging and what’s most rewarding about serving the community as a school board, city council, or commission member?

On Thursday November 17th we will invite a panel of experts to share best practices in “Civic Engagement” and public dialogue. Learn about common public dialogue formats that foster productive and open discussions of important issues.

Both panel discussions will be moderated by community member and political consultant, Larry Tramutola. Attendees also will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists. Both events will be televised on KCOM.
