Understanding Social Networking: a Lecture with Officer Dewarns



Navigating the world of social networking can be confusing for adults, let alone young adults.  To help parents, Piedmont Middle School is hosting a lecture from 20-year veteran, Officer Steve Dewarns, who will explain the best techniques in helping the youth of today navigate cyberspace.

Topics covered will include Internet safety, such as how to respond to unsolicited invitations from unknown and known people, the definition of Cyber Bullying and victimization, an explanation of the various social network and how they are used.

Office Dewarns brings years of experience with his work in Online Child Exploitation Investigations. He has dedicated himself to teaching parents about online safety for children. He has appeared on the Today Show and the Dr. Phil Show, covering topics related to cyber-bullying and Internet safety.
