From a Piedmont Educational Foundation press release:
The Piedmont Educational Foundation has created a new publication to help keep local residents updated on the Piedmont Unified School District's instructional program, facilities, and budget, as well as School Board goals and commitments. The Spotlight is due to arrive in the mailboxes of homeowners sometime next week.
“As part of PEF’s mission to promote academic excellence, champion innovation, and provide sustained financial support to our public schools, we see the Spotlight as a tool to help keep the community informed and engaged with the Piedmont schools," said PEF President Nancy McHugh.
PEF Board Member and Spotlight editor Mary Ireland collaborated with School Board President Rick Raushenbush and PUSD Superintendent Constance Hubbard in developing the publication, honing in on key messages and helping to highlight student learning and activities, teaching, and the Board’s goals for the future. Local graphic designer Kristen Malan worked closely with Ireland on the design of the publication.
"The high quality education our children receive is only possible with the support of the community, and The Spotlight lets them know how that translates to the educational experience,” said Raushenbush, who also thanked PEF and Ireland for their tireless support of the schools.
"The past few years have been so much about managing the fiscal crisis, we haven't had the chance to share broadly all the great things that are happening in our schools," said Superintendent Hubbard. "Spotlight allows everyone to see what we've been up to - in the classrooms, behind the scenes, in the boardroom and beyond. We really appreciate PEF's hard work on this project."
