School Board Holds Public Hearing on Parcel Tax Levy Tonight
The PUSD Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, in Piedmont City Hall. A hearing on how to spend Piedmont Education Fund monies is also on the agenda.
Parcel tax levies will get a look, and a public hearing, this evening at the meeting of the Piedmont Board of Education.
The Piedmont school board meets this evening, with a closed session starting at 6:30 and the regular session due to begin at 7 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 120 Vista Ave.
The board has two public hearings scheduled: on the funding allocation for the contribution from the Piedmont Education Foundation Endowment Fund for 2011-12; and on two parcel taxes.

Members of the school board voiced unanimous support at their Feb. 9 meeting for the Citizens' Advisory Committee's recommendation that the board levy parcel taxes under Measure E and raise Measure B taxes the full 5 percent allowed.

But the board was split over how much of the additional $407,250 generated by bumping up the Measure B levy by 5 percent should be spent in 2011-2012 or kept in reserves. Read more about
The board is scheduled to vote on the levies April 27.
The board will also hear reports from:
- the Piedmont Unified School District’s Diversity-Respect Task Force.
- the Associated Parents Clubs of Piedmont, which surveyed parents, students and staff about preferences on the instructional calendars.
- the Seismic Safety Bond Program Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
