READmont 2013 Launches: 'The Other Wes Moore'

PuSD announces its selection for the community's shared reading experience in 2013 — the third year of the READmont program.

From a Piedmont Unified School District press release:

The Piedmont Unified School District is pleased to announce the official launch of Readmont 2013, Piedmont’s community read project, now in its third year!

All Piedmonters are encouraged to read The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates by Wes Moore, a Rhodes Scholar and decorated combat veteran, who discovers there is another Wes Moore, born at the same time and in the same neighborhood of Baltimore, serving a life sentence for murder. The author Wes Moore visits the other Wes Moore in prison and the two share their stories, seeking to understand why their lives took such different paths.

A limited number of copies will be available for checkout at each school library. Also, A Great Good Place for Books in Montclair is offering a 20% discount on this title. Book discussions will be scheduled in mid-January. We hope this common reading experience will forge positive connections among students, staff, parents and community members as well as encourage reading as a medium of collaboration.
