Register early and you can pick up your Turkey Trot T-shirt and bib the day before the race.

Online registration is now open for the 11th Annual Turkey Trot, scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22.

The Turkey Trot, a three-mile run/walk through the city's tree-lined streets, is the major fundraiser for the Piedmont High School cross country and track teams.

Long-sleeved dry wick T-shirts will be provided to the first 1,500 registered participants. The reward for those registering early is that they can pick up their 2012 Turkey Trot T-shirts and race bibs on Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Piedmont High School.

Ribbons and prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in the following categories: Boys 0-13, Girls 0-13, Men 14-19, Women 14-19, Men 20-29, Women 20-29, Men 30-39, Women 30-39, Men 40-49, Women 40-49, Men 50-59, Women 50-59, Men 60-69, Women 60-69, Men 70+, Women 70+.

Chip timing will allow all entrants to have their actual time recorded as timing will not begin until each participant crosses the starting line.

The race organizers note that those with dogs or strollers are welcome to participate but must start at the rear.

Coffee and hot cocoa will be provided before and after the race by Highland Partners. Additional sponsors include Transports, Village Market, Clif Bar, Piedmont Post, Successful Applicant, Emergen-C and Dove.
