School Board Schedules Special Closed Session on Labor Negotiations

Board of Education members will meet with PUSD Supt. Constance Hubbard on Jan. 3

The Piedmont Unified School District's Board of Education will meet in a special closed session Tuesday, Jan. 3, to confer with Supt. Constance Hubbard on negotiations with the Association of Piedmont Teachers (APT).

Hubbard acts as the district's representative in labor negotiations with the APT. The conference is the only item on the meeting agenda.

One possible item for discussion could be the timing of furlough days in the 2012-2013 school year. The school board delayed adoption of the 2012-13 instructional calendar at its Dec. 14 meeting and, informally, asked district administrators and the Association of Piedmont Teachers (APT) to revisit the furlough days schedule. Under the district's contract with the APT, the calendar is a negotiated item.

The board is scheduled to meet from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the district administration office, 760 Magnolia Ave. Members of the public may address the board on agenda items only at the start of the meeting.
