Determined not to see hundreds of water bottles discarded after the recent Family Field Day event at Havens, Heather Clapp, head of Piedmont Connect's Waste Reduction Group, took it upon herself to purchase four five-gallon water coolers to be used in place of individual disposable plastic water bottles. It seems a new trend has begun!
The water coolers have been added to a library of reusable party supplies the Waste Reduction Group is gathering to be loaned out all over town for anything from school functions to private bashes. We hope to soon have linens, flatware, glassware, and dishes as well. For now, it's thrilling to see the demand for the large water coolers.
In just the last few days, the coolers have been offered for use at both Beach's and Havens' 5th grade pool parties as well as other end-of-the-school year festivities. They're already slated to be loaned out for the Tri-School Jamboree in September.
