Four Piedmont Runners Conquer Boston Marathon

Bradley Sloan had the 10th fastest time of all California runners.

In a race which Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai ran the fastest marathon in recorded history, four Piedmont residents also took part in the 115th annual Boston Marathon Monday.

Bradley Sloan, 35, blazed the 26.2-mile course in two hours, 40 minutes and four seconds to finish 231 overall and 10th out of runners from California. Sloan's time means he ran the race at a pace of an astonishing 6:08 per mile.

James Saunders, 37, was nearly as impressive, finishing the race at 2:57.28 for a 6:46-mile pace.
