PHS Alum Named Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week
Winters Heafey is a senior defensive lineman on the Denison University football team.
Piedmont High School alum Winters Heafey was recently named defensive player of the week by the North Coast Athletic Conference.
Heafey, a senior at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, is a defensive lineman on Denison's Big Red football team.
Heafey helped the Big Red to a 17-12 victory over Hiram in the team's NCAC opener against Hiram College, according to Denison's football website.
"With Hiram at the 50-yard line, trailing by five with less than two minutes to play, Heafey tackled Hiram's running back for a 4-yard loss on 2nd and 10 and then clinched the victory with a sack of Hiram's quarterback on 4th and 15," the website reports.
The Denison football season is off to a 3-1 start after opening the season with victories over Earlham College, Hiram College and Ohio Wesleyan.
