Runners and walkers are registering now for the Saturday, Sept. 29, second annual FallFest 5K Run/Walk, a community event for participants of all ages and athletic abilities sponsored by the Piedmont Unified School District's Wellness Center.
Proceeds from last year's inaugural event went toward counseling services, health education, and student leadership opportunities for middle and upper school students.
Race organizers are looking forward to another successful event and have added new features to encourage more kids to sign up.
Participants are encouraged to form teams by gathering family, friends, or their school club or sport team and join the fun in support of the Wellness Center.
New this year: prizes will be awarded for the most creative costumes (for teams with four or more members), teams with the most members, and parent/child teams (two+ person teams). Although singleton runners can both pre-register and register on site, teams must register online by Sept. 27 to qualify for awards.
Race fees are $35 for adults and $25 for kids age 14 and under. The race starts at 8:30 a.m. Check-in and on-site registration opens at 7:30 a.m. at Piedmont Community Hall. The awards ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. in Piedmont Park. To register online or for more information visit www.piedmontfallfest5k.org.
