Summertime — and the Wild Plums are Ripe

Nature's bounty in Blair Park — deer, wild turkeys and other birds are munching, but there's still enough for humans to sample too!

"I was just walking in Blair Park and noticed that all the wild plum trees are bountiful! And delicious! The red plums are laden with fruit just ripening and the yellow plums are just at the end of their season," writes reader Joannie Semitekol, who sent along these photos.

"The trees can easily be found behind the tarp-covered mounds of dirt left in the park from the slide on Moraga Avenue.

"The deer and turkeys love the fruit and the birds suck on all the ones at the top.  There are still plenty for us to walk by and pop in the mouth — no pesticides here!

"Suggestion to all: Get out and walk Blair Park. There is street parking on Moraga up near Maxwelton and four parking spaces in the park."
