Piedmont High School Students Build Benches for Alameda Food Bank

Brendan Sweeney, an Eagle Scout candidate and member of Troop One,  Piedmont Boy Scout Council, who will be a senior at Piedmont High School in the fall, designed, built and donated these much-needed benches and a bike rack to the Alameda Food Bank earlier this month in Alameda.

Brendan was assisted by his brother Connor Sweeney, also of Piedmont's Eagle Scout Troop One and Zane Myers, a recent graduate of Piedmont High School.

The benches will provide comfortable outdoor seating for food bank clients waiting to be served at its Thau Way facility. Last year the non-profit organization served 5,600 Alameda residents needing food. It has been in operation on the Island since 1977.
