A Piedmont 'First' — Juried Exhibit to Open at Piedmont Center for the Arts

Plus a varied menu of events in and near Piedmont this week — football, author talk, closed session school board meeting, and forums of special importance to women, on the science of breast cancer and on preventing violence against women and girls.

The Piedmont arts community celebrates a "first" this week — the first annual juried art exhibit at the Piedmont Center for the Arts (PCA).

"Return to Simplicity" features works by 33 Bay Area artists selected by René de Guzman, senior curator of art at the Oakland Museum.

The show opens with a reception Friday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at PCA, 801 Magnolia Ave. The exhibit remains on display Nov. 2 through Dec. 1, with the gallery open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (except Friday, Nov. 29) from noon to 3 p.m.

See the center's website here for more details.
