Coming Up: Deadline for Mail-In Ballot, Crab Feed, Softball Clinics, The Waiting Room, Modern Quilts

Some of the things happening in and around Piedmont this week:

—Tuesday, Jan. 28, is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the Feb. 4 Piedmont Municipal election. If you're registered to vote but haven't requested a mail-in ballot yet, you can do so here. If you already submitted your request or sent in your ballot, you can check on its status here. Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the the Alameda County Registrar of Voters Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Options include mailing your ballot; taking it to the Registrar's office, 1225 Fallon St., Oakland, during regular business hours; taking it to the Piedmont City Clerk's office, 120 Vista Ave., Piedmont, during regular business hours (through Election Day); or dropping it off at a local polling place on election Day. If you plan to vote in person, you can check your polling place here

—The Piedmont Avenue Library Book Club meets tonight (Monday). They are recruiting new members. Get details here.

—The Piedmont Appreciating Diversity Film Series presents The Waiting Room, a documentary about Hghland Hospital's emergency room, Wednesday evening. Learn more here.

Thinking Differently — Talking About Neurodiversity is a forum for parents and educators on the different ways children children experience life academically, socially and emotionally. It's Thursday evening at Piedmont High School. Details here.

—The opening reception for the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild's third annual show at the Piedmont Center for the Arts is Friday evening. More information here.
