I'd like to see a coffee house/sandwich shop. Patrons could sit at the Uhuru tables and chairs.
Rick Schiller May 9, 2013 at 02:07 pm
I'm unclear what type of business can make a go of it right there as Uhuru house uses the sidewalkRead More in front of both store fronts as a showroom and the red zone as a loading dock.

The use would be a great addition to the area. The stretch of Grand has come along way but is stillRead More in need of upgrading. The concern that the license could be transferred seems silly because I can't see any potential uses worse that the other two liquor sellers that exist today. If the area improves it won't matter and if the area deteriorates it won't matter.

I think it's a wonderful idea! Would be a huge asset to Grand ave. the liquor stores now are runRead More down. Unsightly. Boot and Shoe has started drawing in wonderful new business's with classy new patrons. If Oakland would put more ordinance into how many nail salons, dry cleaners, Pilates and Yoga places in two block vicinity that would be well worth it. In my opinion the 2 small run down liquor stores need to either clean up thier stores and not be an eye sore for the rest of us who live here.. I hv lived in this neighborhood for 14 years and seen a wonderful transformation happen. Just need to embrace change, BTW, CUP's are not set in stone. They can be relooked at and revoted on.

I agree - the fact that liquor could be transferred is a show-stopper for this. Why not limit it toRead More wine only?

Monkey Forest has a beautiful, unique and tranquil environment. I also think adding the wine andRead More extending the hours is a great business model. I wondered how they would survive with such a limited menu. I will be back!

Mediterranean cuisine is the healthiest for sure. Amba is so-so.

Good idea for a Plan B!

A friendly neighbourhood wine bar.

How about a caffeine detox center, considering how many coffee shops there are in Montclair alone?Read More Other, more serious possibilities are: - Meditation center, or some sort of service focusing on stress relief. - Piano bar. I still miss the old Equinox! - Mediterranean style cafe. Let's get some real Mediterranean style food for our neighborhood (if you know what I mean)!

I have actually tried to back out of this What's For Work Promotion because I have taken theRead More volunteer route for finding a job. When I tried to do that from their website, I was sent to a page that was down. Hm. (I will try that again.) When I sent a message to the email address that Patch provided, it was ignored. I don't want them to try and charge me once the free trial period is up, and I consider this my third attempt to detach myself from this program. Patch? Can you help me with this?

This is hardly a surprise, as CVS generally treats everybody with contempt, customers and employeesRead More alike. Exhibit A: the CVS on 41st Street.

Virginia Davis rocks!!! Oh and By the way Virginia is in fact a co-owner with Chad, correctly citedRead More by the Patch...and Another thing – the croutons are my amazing favorite – Virg has been making them for me since Our good old days at Piedmont High School :-) Thanks for the opportunity to comment! " the expansive sandwich board " They got some details right.

Virginia Davis manages Mulberry's deli but is not, to my knowledge, a co-owner. Chad Olcott andRead More Laura Pochopp are the owners. It's a bit sad to see Piedmont Patch, after such a great start, continually have to get up to speed on the basics of life in Piedmont over and over again as the reporting and editing staff turns over.

The address in the Splash Pad Newsletter was incorrect. It should have read 3411 Lakeshore. That'sRead More next door to Mezze.

Mmmmm - when reading the ALAMEDA Patch, I tend not to be so interested in what's happening inRead More Piedmont, thanks.
