the purged police blotters are a waste of time. Publish the entire police blotter or drop it

What we select for publication from the blotters are the actual crimes (thefts, burglaries,Read More robberies, fraud) plus what strikes us as offbeat, interesting or enlightening in some fashion. We generally omit the majority of false alarms, routine traffic stops, minor fender-bender accidents and parking complaints, which make up much of the daily blotters. We also exclude items that are mainly family-related (e.g., failed suicide attempts, parent-child arguments, requests to check on a relative's welfare) that don't rise to the level of a criminal complaint or occur in a public place. Would other readers care to weigh in on what they'd like to see in the blotter?

Son arrange meeting in Berkeley, cops retrieved bike, and now my son has bike back. Good going Berkeley. I would expect more from Piedmont PD!

What a waste of police resources. You could see the checkpoint - with enough police cars and lightsRead More that we mistook it for a movie set - from 5-6 blocks away, with plenty of opportunities to navigate down alternate streets. We just proceeded forward because we wanted to see what movie was being filmed (we were waived through without any check-up). I'd be surprised if they nabbed a single drunk driver.
