The Recreation Department provides for all kinds of fun in Piedmont.
The department puts on special…More events—such as the summer movies in Piedmont Park, annual July 4th parade and Halloween haunted house—and organizes ongoing sports, arts and enrichment programs throughout the year.
From Kindermusik for the wee ones and dining etiquette for elementary schoolers, to babysitting classes for tweens, Scottish Highland dancing for adults, and senior outings, there's something for everyone. Sports offerings range from T-ball and fencing for kids to ladies' tennis.
Residents get first priority for all programs; non-residents can register after resident deadlines have passed.
The department manages scheduling for the Kennelly Skate Park and municipal tennis courts and coordinates rental of Piedmont's recreational facilities, including the Veterans Memorial Building, Exedra Plaza and the community hall in Piedmont Park.
The Recreation Department building is itself a place to play, with pool and foosball tables on the second floor, and a grill-equipped picnic area, small playground and a pair of basketball courts in the back.
The mansion is also home to the department's five pre-school programs. The department's Schoolmates program provides after-school care for older children at Piedmont's three elementary schools.
