I may be one of the San Francisco Bay Areas busiest music directors! I have helped take many a vocalist from the level of simply wanting to sing, all the way to being able to sing on the stage. I guide vocalists toward mastery of nearly any genre of song. I am a jazz singer and definitely at home as a performer myself. In addition to my own jazz performance dates (Freight and Salvage, Berkleley and Yoshi’s, Oakland) and recording projects, I am currently the Director of the Anything Goes Chorus in San Francisco (Community Music Center), and Oakland (First Congregational Church). These are community choruses for men and women I founded in 1980. I also teach a beginning singing class for women called Swingshift Singers. I have worked with literally thousands of students throughout my life and continue to be a dedicated vocal coach.
My latest CD entitled “Don’t Wait Too Long” will be released October 21 with a concert at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. My CD “Mercy! Ellen Robinson Live” released in 2006, captures those one-of-a-kind live performances in a compilation of songs selected from four different concerts. My 1st CD “On My Way To You” was released in 2001. I produced both of these recordings on my own EMR MUSIC label with KCSM jazz radio personality and drummer, Bud Spangler.
