Former Model Is First Defense Witness at Accused Serial Killer Joseph Naso's Trial

Joseph Naso, charged with the murders of four women, is a former Piedmont resident.

A former model was Joseph Naso's first witness as defense testimony began Tuesday in the murder trial of the accused serial killer and former Piedmont resident in Marin County Superior Court.

Naso recalled homemade chicken soup that Monique Dahquist served him during a 1966 photo shoot in her Sausalito apartment, according to a report from KGO-TV.

He also showed Dalhquist photos of herself that he took during the modeling session, the KGO-TV report said.

Naso's witness list includes photographer Richard Hoyt, who worked with Naso at a Berkeley camera shop in the 1960s Hoytdel; a fellow flea-market vendor he used to know; a sculptor; and a retired sheriff's detective, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Naso has not said whether he plans to testify, the Marin IJ aticle said.

Naso, of Reno, is charged with murdering Roxene Roggasch, 18, of Oakland, whose body was found in Marin County on Jan. 11, 1977, and Carmen Colon, 22, an East Bay resident who was found dead in Contra Costa County on Aug. 15, 1978.

He is also charged with two Yuba County murders for the deaths of Pamela Parsons, 38, and Tracey Tafoya, 31. Parsons' body was found on Sept. 19, 1993, and Tafoya's body was found on Aug. 14, 1994.

Naso is serving as his own attorney during the trial. Defense testimony is expected to wrap up by Friday and closing arguments to begin next week, the KGO-TV report says.
