Police Blotter: Arrests Follow 2 Hit-and-Run Accidents

The weekend police blotter.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log from noon on Oct. 18 through noon, Oct. 21. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

FRIDAY, OCT. 18

DUI, hit-and-run arrest — A San Leandro woman was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving while intoxicated after crashing her car into a tree near the corner of Hazel Lane and Requa Place about 2:50 p.m. Police said Jasna Dugorepec, 52, first backed into another another vehicle in the 100 block of Highland Avenue, then drove off without providing her insurance information, and collided with the tree about 10 minutes later. 

Public intoxication — Police responding to a report of a man passed out on Wildwood Avenue at 3:51 p.m. found a 39-year-old San Francisco man with vodka in his possession who was unable to stand or walk on his own. The man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland.

SATURDAY, OCT. 19

Warrant arrest, hit-and-run — Two women leaving a friend's house in the Pacific Avenue area shortly before 5 a.m. told police that a white van had hit their pickup truck, then drove off. Police located a van matching their description, with two women inside. One of the women had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft and identity theft and was taken into custody. She was also arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they believe this is the van that hit the truck, but witnesses were not able to identity the driver.

Auto burglary — Someone broke into a parked vehicle on Requa Place during the night.

ID theft — A Mountain Avenue resident reported being the victim of identity theft.

SUNDAY, OCT. 20

Auto burglaries — A Greenbank Avenue resident reported finding a duffle bag and carry-on luggage in front of his home. Police said it appeared someone had rifled through vehicles parked nearby and taken, then discarded the items.

MONDAY, OCT. 21

Vandalism — Someone broke the windshield of a vehicle parked on Estates Drive over the weekend.
