Snow Park Could Become New Home to Dog Play Area

A 4.2-acre park at 19th and Harrison streets in Oakland is drawing less opposition as a site for a dog park than Astro Park did.

Snow Park at 19th and Harrison streets in Oakland could become the home of a dog play area that was rejected for Astro Park at Grand and Lakeshore avenues, according to media reports.

So far, there's relatively little opposition to the proposed site, the Tribune says.

Snow Park is a 4.2-acre open space opposite Lake Merritt that includes a putting green and mini-course. The dog area would occupy about a half-acre.

City staff hope to bring more detailed plans to the commission in April.
