Fentons Dishes Up Ice Cream for a Good Cause Saturday and 'Sundae'

What's better than the warm glow you get from supporting a good cause? Quite possibly, getting a cool glow by relishing a "Firefighter's Sundae," a concoction of two raspberry-favored ice creams garnished with raspbery topping and cold fudge, roasted almonds and a cherry on top.

Throughout November, Fentons Creamery, 4226 Piedmont Ave., Oakland will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from Firefighter's Sundaes (aka Myrtle's Creation) to the Oakland Firefighters' Random Acts of Kindness program.

Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11, noon to 4 p.m., will be a showcase for the project. At 3 p.m. each day, teams of firefighters (Oakland vs. Berkeley on Saturday, two Oakland teams Sunday) will compete to build the best sundae. According to Fentons, "a whipped cream fight is guaranteed."
