Hills Residents 'Power-Less' Tuesday as PG&E Makes Repairs

By Bay City News Service

A planned power outage in the Oakland hills Tuesday left more than 1,200 PG&E customers without power for nearly 90 minutes, a PG&E spokeswoman said.

Customers in the area of Broadway Terrace and Hermosa Avenue were alerted prior to Tuesday's outage that PG&E would need to temporarily take their power down for repairs, PG&E spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

The outage lasted from 3:07 p.m. until about 4:30 p.m., she said. The notice to customers had warned area residents that the outage might last as late as 6 p.m.

The repairs were necessary for PG&E equipment that was hit by a truck several months ago.

At the time, PG&E completed temporary repairs to restore power but Tuesday fixed the damage permanently, Sarkissian said.
