Top Stories, July 2 - July 9

Piedmont had lots of fun in the sun the past week with a 4th of July parade and picnic and a splash in the municipal pool, which is now under city management.

THE WEEK'S MOST POPULAR NEWS ARTICLES:

  1. : The city took over operation of the municipal pool July 1. With similar lap swim and recreational hours and the , life at the pool appeared very much on the city's first day out as it had under the previous 47 years when the Swim Club ran the place. 
  2. : Piedmont showed off its national pride Monday, July 4. The community band started the parade down Highland Avenue, which was followed by a picnic in the park that began with a collective pledge of allegiance. 
  3. : The community band sounded pretty fantastic as they marched down Highland Monday, especially considering they'd rehearsed only once. It probably helps that they play the same tunes every year.
  4. : The Piedmont real estate market was moving in June.
  5. : The Piedmont Center for the Arts is opening Aug. 28. Lehrkind and Smith are hard at work with the preparations and psyched about the new venue's coming debut.
